It is found in most of the Eastern Hemisphere, including Southern Europe, Africa and Madagascar, as well as the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. C. esculentus is cultivated for its edible tubers, called earth almonds or tiger nuts, as a snack food and for the preparation of horchata de chufa, a sweet, milk-like beverage Cyperus esculentus can be found wild, as a weed, or as a crop. It is an invasive species outside its native range, and is readily transported accidentally to become invasive. In many countries, C. esculentus is considered a weed. It is often found in wet soils such as rice paddies and peanut farms as well as well-irrigated lawns and golf courses during warm weather. ## Features - Versatile and Nutrient-Packed: Organic peeled tiger nuts are not just a tasty snack, but also a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of recipes. After an initial resistance, chewing and saliva break through Thsrs little nuggets of delight to reveal thier subtle and unique deliciousness, sweet enough and naturally good.As they have been mostly skinned, they are easier to break down and even more enjoyable. As a child of a poor family back in the sixties we had Tiger Nuts instead of boiled sweets and chocolate. I am now happily substituting my chocolate cravings with these, and it's working! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality overall, clean and natural *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 5 May 2026* The quality of these tiger nuts is good overall and they feel like a natural, minimally processed product. They arrive clean and well peeled, with no noticeable debris or dust in the pack. The nuts are fairly consistent in size and look fresh.Taste and freshness:They have a naturally sweet, nutty flavour and don’t taste stale. The freshness seems well preserved in the packaging.Texture:They are a bit firm straight out of the bag, but that’s normal for tiger nuts. Soaking them improves both the texture and overall eating experience.Pros:- Clean and well peeled- Fresh and natural taste- Good packaging to maintain quality- Consistent size and appearanceCons:- Slightly firm if eaten without soakingOverall:A good quality product that delivers what you’d expect. Ideal if you’re looking for a natural snack or planning to soak/blend them for recipes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tasty snack *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 14 March 2026* I use them to make milk then dehydrate the pulp. They are nice alternatives to snacks though. you'll need to soak them first. They taste like a nut with a sweet kick. I can eat them on the autoimmune protocol(AIP) because they are not really nuts but make a tasty snack, milk or flour ## Frequently Bought Together - Organic Peeled Tiger Nuts - Whole, Raw, Vegan, No Additives, No Preservatives - High in Fiber, Protein and Essential Fats - Perfect for Snacking, Baking and Cooking - Thames Organic 1kg - Strp'd Tigernut Flakes (400g) | Healthy alternative breakfast cereal | Gluten-free, nut-free & grain-free alternative to oats | High Fibre Breakfast | Vegan | Paleo Breakfast Cereal | Naturally Sweet - Strp'd Tigernut Flour Extra-Fine (400g) | Gluten Free & Nut Free alternative to Almond Flour | Milled from 100% Tiger nuts | High in Fibre | Vegan | Naturally Sweet | AIP Compliant --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/356528630-organic-peeled-tiger-nuts-whole-raw-vegan-no-additives-no](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/356528630-organic-peeled-tiger-nuts-whole-raw-vegan-no-additives-no) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-20*
