## Overview

Therapy U Head Rush is a fast-paced, mindfulness-driven card game featuring 108 color-coded cards designed to enhance self-awareness, communication, and social skills. Made in the USA and ideal for 3 or more players aged 12+, it’s perfect for therapeutic settings, group sessions, or anyone looking to sharpen their emotional intelligence through engaging, competitive play.

## Description

Instructions - Step 1: Shuffle the deck and place it in the center of the group. Step 2: The first player will flip over a card and leave it face up in front of them for all to see. Step 3: The next player does the same, this continues with each player flipping up a card on his/her turn. Step 4: Watch for matching brain colors, if at any time a player flips a card that matches the brain color on your flipped card, you attempt to answer the question on your opponent's card faster than they can answer the question on your card. There can be multiple matches at a time! Step 5: Whoever answers their opponent's card quickest, wins that card. The card that was won goes "out of play", kept by the winning player. Step 6: Watch out for BRAIN SWAP cards. These cards will create new matches between differing colors. When drawn, this card is placed in the player's pile, creating more color matches for other players until another card is placed on top of it. Step 7: When a card is won, the card underneath the "won" card could match another card on the table. Pay attention to this as your card could be a new match. Answer your opponent's card before they answer yours. Winner: The player at the end of the game with the most cards is the winner!

Review: Great for therapuetic rapport building! - Love that it makes sessions fun. Amazing quality and worth the price!
Review: Great for group therapy sessions with adolescents! - I was a little apprehensive getting this because I saw a lot of reviews saying the instructions and the game itself was a bit too complicated, but I played this with one of my DBT groups (age range 12-17) and they really enjoyed it! It was a great way to get everyone talking and to open up a little more about themselves, and the competition aspect made it fun for them. I think it would also be great to utilize in individual sessions and in a non-competitive way as well, especially for kids who are a little more shy and reserved. Would definitely recommend!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ great social‑skills game, but definitely not plug‑and‑play for every kid
*by I***A on 27 August 2026*

Head Rush is actually a super solid therapy game — it gets kids talking, thinking, and practicing mindfulness without feeling like “work.” My clients usually enjoy the goofy prompts and the quick‑thinking style, and it’s a nice way to sneak in communication and self‑awareness practice during sessions. BUT it’s not one of those games you can just toss on the table and expect magic. Some kids need extra scaffolding to understand the questions or stay focused, especially if they struggle with impulse control or abstract thinking. Once they get the hang of it, though, it becomes a fun way to build social skills without the usual “ugh, therapy” vibe. Overall, a 4/5 — helpful, engaging, and great for sessions, just expect to guide them a bit.
