Review: Loose screws! - Warning! Open the set on a towel. Three of the very tiny screws and wheels were loose in the box. If lost in carpet..say goodbye forever! Otherwise a very nice set wit quality tools. My best guess is a $1 an hour employee got frustrated and said "screw it" before giving up during a very tedious assembly.

You want the point to not move so one swipe around your done. This compass has a gear that opens the width, thus won't change during use. I've purchased others in stores and you spend more time fixing what went wrong. One and done. One circle around, and its done.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the maximum diameter? The description says 18" while the video says 24"**
A: With the "extender leg" attached I am able to open the compass to a diameter of 11.5".  I don't see how you could expand it to 18" or 24".

**Q: Can you use this with other drawing utensils like markers?**
A: Yes you can use markers and pens and pencils. Built in there is a lead, but there's an attachment that lets you use any kind of writing pen/marker/pencil that is up to 1/2 in diameter.

**Q: What is the diameter of the lead? I need more than the standard black lead. Most compass's are 2mm>**
A: This is also 2mm.

Make one, there's plenty of cool compass plans available online. That's what I did for my trammel points (beam compass)

**Q: Does the small compass use the same 2 mm replacement leads?**
A: Yes

For the price, this is the best compass kit. When drawing a circle with a compass, you want the compass to hold the width you want. You want the point to not move so one swipe around your done. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality and accuracy

Happy with the quality of the smaller compass and accessories. The smaller compass holds the setting pretty well. The pencil adapter works well with mechanical pencils and allows for consistent fine lines. The larger compass screw and pins have play that allows for some movement. It should hold position fine as long as you are careful to not put inward or outward pressure on the arms, much like the freely adjustable style, but with less risk of losing the setting. I've used the smaller compass a bunch for making mandalas on 4x6 cards and have been quite happy with the accuracy, but have not used the larger compass. Overall, the $13 is more than worth it for the smaller compass, sharpener, extra leads, and pen/pencil adapter if the larger compass does not work out.
