### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Use compact bulbs

I had a similar lamp as a kid, but it had a red base. This is the closest I've found to it. I have LED bulbs in it and they do touch the interior of the dome. (Type A bulbs) Once those go, I'll go with a more compact bulb.I understand the other comments about this melting and I don't recall the one in my childhood having that issue. I only wish it had chains like my old one vs. a switch on the cord. I'm still debating on getting some plastic friendly paint and doing the bottom bright red.I really like this lamp, so I'm not going to knock it. I'm glad I went with the white dome because light does come through the dome (there's a black version out there).

I used a single 60-watt bulb for this and left it on for a few hours one night. The mushroom top is made of Polypropylene plastic and the light warped and melted the top.The melting point for what this product is listed as (Polypropylene) is 320F but a single 60w lightbulb only gets up to 200F so this shouldn't happen.This item is listed incorrectly and will potentially catch on fire if you leave it on too long.
