We use it on bare floors and some area rugs, and 1 or 2 carpeted rooms. Handles that well. I am not sure it's got enough power/agitation for dog hair stuck in a thick pile carpet , but other than that it works fine for us. Light at base is good, easy to pop the head off when vacuuming to use just the stick portion to get into corners under cabinets. Really no complaints for the price.

**Q: Are there different carpet height options - need for thick pile?**
A: There an option for speed only . One speed for carpet and one speed floor hard floor surfaces.  No height level change available on this vacuum.

**Q: Does this model stand up on its own?**
A: Yes...and no.  I have had occasions where it stood without falling over for a period of time on carpeting.  If it's on a hard floor, the bottom slides out from under it.  Remember, this is a top-heavy stick vacuum.  Its top portion outweighs the bottom portion.  I do stand it up to store it, but I put the bottom on a nonskid surface and tuck it snuggly in a closet where it has no where to go.  If you're asking if you can let it upright and easily walk away from it, I would say NO.

**Q: Does the power cord automatically reel in or do you need to manually roll it up?**
A: manually roll it up

**Q: Can the dustbin detatch from the motor?**
A: Yes, the dustbin detaches with pressing these button things on the side. 
It then only takes pressing a couple different buttons on the detached dustbin to empty it into a trash can.

So far it's working great! The cord is long enough for me and it cleans up my maine coon's fur with ease. Hair does wrap around the brush a bit, but is easy to remove. First of all this vacuum is perfectly sized for stairs. It’s a little thinner, head the most vacuum and if you have carpet on your vacuum here, that’s a good thing. It is strong, picks up a lot of dirt dust. It’s lightweight and easy to handle. By all these small beef with it is that the head laid into place very easily you have to keep stepping on it to make it up a little bit more. But the battery life and size are perfect, and it’s easy to clean and empty.
