Easy to use

As there is an Amazon discount code available.I wanted to remove rust and bubbling paint with rust underneath on some economy seven radiator covers in my sons flat. Before my son had moved in some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to put plant pots on top of the economy seven radiators and still water them. The result was they were covered in rust along the top and down the sides where water got underneath the paint..I did contemplate replacement covers, but I was told that these blue fibrous attachments for an angle grinder will take the rust and paint off without doing too much damage to the metal underneath and that they’re quite easy to use so I thought I’d give them a go.First thing to note is that when you put these blue discs on, they set a lot deeper than a cutting disc or a grinding disc.I ended up using a pair of long nose pliers to tighten up the disc to make sure it was held securely. You’re also going to have to take off the protective cover from the angle grinder, in my case with the Dewalt angle grinder, it was just one Phillips head screw and then the cover came off relatively easily. Before you start you are going to need1. something to protect your eyes2. a decent facemask. If you’re stripping paint, certainly fragments of metal and lots of dust to going to fly around.3. I would also recommend ear defenders as angle grinders are very noisy and4. Some leather glovesOnce you’re all set up, these are simple to use. It’s an easy process to remove the paint you don’t use the width of these removing discs you use the flat side, that allows for more control, and you can remove paint without using too much pressure.Having stripped the rusty parts off of these radiator covers quite successfully and quite easily, I decided it would be a good idea to remove all the paint and give myself a reasonably flat service to have a go with some heat resistant rattle can paint to make these radiator covers look nice.I used two stripping discs to get this whole job done. I could’ve got away with one probably, but as the disc wears down you get closer to the hard surface underneath the blue stripping material and I didn’t want to risk damaging the metal surface of these covers any more than they were already dented. Also the vents underneath the radiator cover caught on the blue surface of these discs so stripping little bits away quicker than a flat surface would do so I put a new one on and ended up using two discs.I’ve attached a short video to show the end result of removing the crème/beige paint and rust from the covers, stripping down the two covers probably took me over an hour.I would say go gently with them angle grinder and let the disc do the work, attach the handle to the side of the angle grinder and swap it over if your hand gets tired moving backwards and forwards. They will now need a short rubbing down to remove any paint I have missed and then a clean with some panel wipe before they are ready for paintingI hope you find the video and review helpful

Fantastic for removing years of paint
I used these to remove 50yrs of window sills painting to get back to the original wood for staining. They were brilliant. Forget fancy paint stripper gels and pastes and just use these. Superb.

Quite good at stripping paint from wood but discs do not last long.
Used for stripping paint from wood.Did the job pretty well but created loads of dust and wore down quickly. Quite a few blue fragments flew off the disc in use, so wear goggles.Took 7 discs to do a small area, so a little expensive..

Work really well
Great for rust removal. Still have plenty discs left after a big job

Good value.
Definitely up to the job. They last well for the money. You can scratch metal though. It prepares surface verywell for painting. I also just about managed to achieve a reasonably shiny surface on another workpiece.Recommended as far as I am concerned.

Great when used with realistic expectations
Great at removing car body paint without cutting into the metal. The disk is made from an open cell sponge material that has been coated in an abrasive. If you abuse its proper usage you might find that pieces snag on sharp metal surface edges and bits fall off. Be mindful of the disc rotation direction when working against sharp edges. I've also had some success at cleaning efflorescence off brickwork with these discs. Would buy again.

Very solid...could do with some info.
I haven't used these for their main purpose yet, but they were OK on a small area. This being my first purchase of additions for a relatively new angle grinder, it would be helpful (for the novice) to have short fitting instructions.Fitted it the way you'd expect, but just kept spinning. Eventually realised that you need either a backing pad to fill space or...screw the locking nut so that the small circular protrusion is facing out. Then you'll be able to tighten adequately and crack on with the job :-D

Time saver
Used for removing loose areas of paint from a soft brick wall and feathering the edges of the remaining paint. Very controllable, surprisingly easy to take even very small patches off without affecting adjacent areas. Despite feeling quite coarse the disc isn't aggressive so doesn't rip into the bricks as I feared it might. They seem to last well and don't clog at all. Still not a great job to have to do, but made a lot easier and much quicker by using these discs.
