I will say this seems to be an excellent product, mine has been in since Spring and still on the original batteries. There is a button battery inside the receiver and I would believe that is to keep the memory during loss of power. **Q: can you plug in receiver indoors when monitors are outdoor use only** A: I have two of these sensors. One is at the head of the driveway, roughly 100 yards away from the plugged in receiver in the house. The second is another 30 feet beyond the driveway sensor mounted inside my mailbox which is not visible from my house. Mailman opening the door sets off the chime and I get my mail before it can be stolen. It's attractive (cute even) and very easy to set up. I like that it has so many types of alarms (35) and different levels of sound. You can choose between 4 volume levels. The receiver (alarm part) is plugged into an outlet in your home or work area in a spot where you can easily hear it from all levels of your home. The sound quality is very good. My husband is hard of hearing but has no problem hearing it when it's on it's loudest setting. We have wild ducks, pheasants, deer, foxes, turtles and beaver here and so far no false alarms! However, if someone drives along the driveway it picks them up quite easily. I raise Irish Setters so I was concerned about them setting it off, so we placed it in an area so that if they head down the driveway to leave the property, we get an alarm in time to call them back. Also, if people walk onto the property, it warns us as well. Our sensors are a good distance from our home, yet still work accurately. I haven't rated the battery life of the sensors, as our system is new, however, if I find that it isn't as good as expected after time, I will update my review. I purchased the set with two sensors. I wish I had ordered a larger set. I will order some extra motion sensors later. We plan to place one to warn us of animals/people near our chicken coop/run and our adjoining dog/puppy run as well as at each access point of our property. We have one set up that will warn us if someone enters our garage or back door area - especially at night. The dogs will warn us if someone enters from the other doors. :) This is a great price for a simple to use but well-working alarm system.
