More like 4.8 stars if I could. It's great, don't get me wrong, works perfectly, used it on identifying some uranium glass and some minerals in some rock samples as well. It is 100% a working UV light, and what's more is there's TWO flashlights included! The flashlights themselves seem sturdy, but not overly sturdy like some of the other stuff I've even gotten at Walmart has been. The metal feels fine, totally useable, but just ever so slightly thin, somehow. Like if dropped on the rocks too many times or gotten around a few to many splashes might damage or weaken it where as a thicker metal housing would add a sense of weight and toolness to it. Like a maglite almost. Good price for what it is though. Beam isn't as strong as a regular flashlight even, this is meant for close up, convenient, handheld observation, just perhaps not out in the field. Uses 3 AAA batteries.
