The Gold is some kind of med gold laminate that looks glazed for a gilded gold authenticity look. The whole frame looks very good considering it's all man made materials. That being said it fits perfect on my Samsung 55" frame Tv. Also, while the TV was already mounted on the wall I was able to attach it myself.
