Long Answer: On high mileage vehicles its not uncommon for small particles of sludge to make it way through the oil... especially after an oil change. The idea of the screen or filter is to prevent anything from clogging the sensor. I've had that cause a sensor to fail, and I've also seen the screens clogged. Theoretically the screen catching something could allow the sensor to work allot longer. On properly maintained vehicles and lower millage, never noticed debris... sensor usually leaked internally and caused the connection to fail. Hope that helps. **Q: Anyone else have it fail after only one month?** A: Yes. 13 months & less than 10k miles. **Q: Will this fit a 2013 camaro ss 6.2?** A: Not sure. I put it in a 2009 Yukon XL 5.3L. It's been working great for a year. So far so good!
