PU stands for polyurethane, which is a type of adhesive that provides a permanent, long term, high performance rigid bond. It consists of a high-quality formula that produces a foaming action to expand into gaps. This is especially good for the application of floorboards as the excess adhesive foams out of the joints to create a ridge that enhances the weatherproofing of the joint. Our foaming glue can also be used to fix and prevent any squeaks in floorboards/stairs. How to Apply Chipstick to Floorboards for New Installations 1. Apply Adhesive to Joist Apply Chipstick D4 Chipboard Adhesive to the top of the joist on the area where the first row of floorboards will be laid. 2. Install Floorboards Install first row of floorboards as centrally as possible; fixing them in place using one nail per joist. The length of the fixing should be 2.5 times the board thickness. 3. Apply Adhesive to Floorboards Apply Chipstick adhesive to both the tongue and groove of each section of floorboard. Directly lay it and ensure entire length is covered. 4. Butt the Floorboards Together Tightly butt boards together. Wait for the Chipstick adhesive to foam out of the joint to fix and seal the boards together. Leave excess adhesive to dry before removing with a scraper. 5. Apply Adhesive to the Boards Apply Chipstick adhesive to next row of floorboards and lay them in a staggered pattern. Repeat steps 3 and 4, whilst taking care when walking over the newly laid floor. 6. Seal the Perimeter Use Chipstick adhesive to seal over exposed nail heads, cut edges and conceal exposed perimeter edges. 7. Clean Area and Remove Film Remove all excess adhesive and double check all joints and perimeter are entirely sealed. Very pleased with the result. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use expanding glue. *by M***S on 11 November 2025* A easy to use glue that really helps quite a chipboard panel floor. I used it when overlaying a poor quality chipboard floor with 18mm large chipboard floor panels and have been rewarded with a really firm quite flooring.
