You only get live feed. The subscription is fairly cheap. Basic plan is $3 per month/$30 per year or $10 per month/$100 per year for the premium plan. The premium is well worth it if you plan on having more than 1 ring device. The basic plan only covers 1 device per subscription. **Q: Can this unit be mounted horzenal under the roof eve?** A: I just installed two of these on the garage ceiling in a four car garage and the light pods CAN be "encouraged" past their built in stops. Grasp the mounting base securely and very GENTLY apply ever increasing pressure to turn the round stem past the natural stop point. You will feel the plastic parts inside slowly give way and move past the intended stop. Now ... DON'T GO SPINNING THEM AROUND A DOZEN TIMES as the wires inside won't thank you for that, but I was able to twist them to where the "shades" were oriented properly and everything works perfectly normal afterwards. **Q: I have a outside light now on a switch. Will I be able to still turn the light on and off with the switch or do I need to use the app?** A: You have to use the App. But according to the Ring website, the "Pro" model will allow you to toggle the wall switch to turn on the light for 1 minute. When you do this, you interrupt the WiFi so the device has to reboot and is temporarily disconnected from the App but the light will remain on for 1 minute. And, you cannot turn the light on via Alexa. So it you hear something in the middle of night that is out of range of the motion sensor, you have to find your phone, password on, launch the Ring app, select the floodlight device, and toggle the light on. If I had know this I would have purchased the Pro model. **Q: What is the difference between the floodlight cams and the spotlight cams?** A: Also the spotlight cam I got runs on batteries that have to be recharged and the WiFi connection is not as strong. I also have 2 floodlight cam plus lights that are hardwired. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to improve their home security. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Security and light that is easy to install and use *by B***E on July 17, 2026* I am very impressed with how easy it is to setup and install the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus! It came with various size screws so that no matter what style 4 inch round weatherproof box you have to mount it on, there would be screws for you to use. It also came with a very nice Multi tool that is a Philips Screwdriver, a flathead or a socket that tightens the decorative nuts that attaches the camera to the base. The camera has a ribbon that clips onto the mount so the camera is held up while you connect your wires. Orange wire nuts are provided. Everything you need to attach to the base and wire it up is there. It is nice that they are hardwired and you have no battery to worry about charging. Once it is installed, you can power it up, open your Ring app, click install new device and then it will prompt you to scan the QR code that is on a paper included with the camera. After you do that, it will ask a few simple questions and then thats it! It will update its software and you are off to the races! It connects up just that easy! It really couldn't be anymore simple. I love the view it has. Its range stretches far from left to right. It has kind of a fish eye lens look to it, but when you zoom in on things it looks more flat. In the settings, you adjust the lights however you want them. You can have them on all the time during the dark hours, or you can have it on only when it detects motion. You can also adjust the brightness and how long they stay on after it detects motion. Each light can be adjusted by hand to point wherever you want them to. You can set up a field of view that only detects motion in that certain field. And the motion detection is smart. I have had cheap cameras in the past that I could not leave motion detection on because it would alert my phone every 30 seconds with something silly. But with this camera if it says motion detected, something is definitely there. Overall, these cameras are awesome! And when you first open the box you can just tell that it is quality made. For what you are getting and all it can do it is a great value! I think you will be happy purchasing these.
