I had to drill an extra while in the handle where there was a permanent set pin on the saw. It’s a pain to get on that’s no exaggeration. After the nightmare of putting it back together the handle alphas done a good job so far no issues at all. From what I’ve ready it’s no easier task to get the oem replacement handle back on. Over all I would say it’s worth the money and I believe the 170 and 171 take the same handle assembly. **Q: I need a handle for a stihl ms 171. where can i get one?** A: I could not find original equipment online. Stihl MS180 *by J***C on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2024* -rope broke, tree limb crushed my Stihl MS180C, breaking the handle,... next day this arrived from Amazon, fit perfect, just pryed out rubber grommet plastic covers, pushed in rubber grommets (YouTube for illustation), this fit fine, 20 minute job, i put some silicon on the rubber grommets to help them slide back in... and was priced well,.. comes with handle and both sides of trigger handle-edit, skip the silicon, the handle wants to slide around while you're cutting, now i gotta take it apart and wipe off that silicon, maybe use a spray oil that will dry, or nothing at all ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Don't remove the rubber grommets! *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2023* I should have watched the YouTube video on ms180 handle replacement first. There are three rubber grommets that hold the handle on. Remove the front cover on each of them but do not remove the grommet. Use a small flat tip screwdriver or slim and narrow door panel tool and push the side of the grommet inward as you gently pull the handle outward. It's easier if you watch the YouTube video. I would have finished the job an hour early if I had not removed all those grommets.The New handle is great.
