That's usually about every 2 weeks. Timing can vary depending upon how often I use the dishwasher. Good stuff. **Q: Will this eliminate the “wet dog” smell from my dishes?** A: Ignore the imbecilic answers that precede mine. No, a rinse supplement will NOT solve your problem, but I have a method that will. To explain - the source of the smell is likely due to microbial buildup in places that microbes like to hide, as in where it is warm and wet (like in the interior nooks and crannies and drain hoses of a dish washer). What I do is periodically set my machine to "delicate" (aka Rinse & Hold) and turn on the "High Temp" setting (if it has one) so that the water is as hot as the machine can get it, then run the cycle with the dishwasher empty ... albeit with generous spritz or two of a chlorine-based LAUNDRY BLEACH (about 1/8 cup). Bleach is a potent bacteriacide (and stain remover), used by both the food service and winemaking industries. The result is the machine will run it's pre-wash cycle with the hot bleach-infused water, then rinse it away and stop ... doing that say twice a month usually keeps the wet dog smell at bay. One caveat - dont use the bleach too often or to excess, or it can degrade the seals and hoses prematurely. **Q: Can you delute this with water and use it to rinse off your car ?** A: No, this product is specifically formulated to use in dishwashing machines to rinse the dishes. **Q: Are we poisoning ourselves by adding all these chemicals to our dishes?** A: It gets rinsed off of your dishes.
