I've tried several kettle poppers, and this is in a league of its own in terms of quality but it works as the design is exactly the same. I find it can pop longer than the aluminum models without burning. I let it pop until it reduced popping to single kurrnels and did not burn the popcorn. I would have long removed the aluminum kettle. The handle mechanism works as the aluminum kettles and didn't notice any improvement in the gear being metal over previous models. The copper clasp also required careful use to avoid both flaps from opening. Having said this I would gladly buy 2 if I had 4 arms! The second popping was more impressive than the first with the kettle resting about 3 minutes to satisfying 5 grandkids. Best money spent in a long time. Perfect popcorn, leaving 5 unpopped kernels from 3/4 cup of Amish popcorn. The steel popper kettle is of excellent weight and finished inside and out with great craftsmanship. Cleaned up nicely and no need for the dishwasher. Lightly use vinegar on the copper outer cover layer and the topper cover. I've tried several kettle poppers, and this is in a league of its own in terms of quality but it works as the design is exactly the same. I find it can pop longer than the aluminum models without burning. I let it pop until it reduced popping to single kurrnels and did not burn the popcorn. I would have long removed the aluminum kettle. The handle mechanism works as the aluminum kettles and didn't notice any improvement in the gear being metal over previous models. The copper clasp also required careful use to avoid both flaps from opening. Having said this I would gladly buy 2 if I had 4 arms!
