I have wood floors and an area rug and my grand-kids seemed to do alright pushing it on the rug. It is a little harder going from floor to rug. This is a really sturdy cart and made so it will not tip over easy. My grand-kids love it. **Q: Real shopping...can you put a gallon of milk in it and room for a "couple" of more items? Thank you.** A: Sure can! Once you put the milk in the cart theres a little room for more items but not a lot. Its like 10 1/2 inches deep and 12 inches long. **Q: Does it tip when pushed? I used to have a plastic cart about 5 years ago and when my son pushed it, it would tip. Is this sturdy?** A: This tipped the first time my daughter used it. Pulling on any of the sides will tip it over easily.
