Durable neoprene is lightweight. The wide cushioned PU foam pad swaddles the kneecap in protection. Review: Very Nice Knee Pads - This wrestling knee pad is exactly as I remembered it. These are THICCC and probably more padding than most people care for; the surface area of the padding is about 7x5 inches. This is probably my 5th piece. Not due to poor quality, but because they're so nice, I have given the first 4 away. They are sold individually, NOT in pairs. I used two originally for wrestling. Then got 2 more. After wrestling, teammates and I used them for Kung Fu/Wushu/stunts on wood floors, concrete, pavement, etc. They are also very nice for working around the house. Now, I purchased 1 knee pad for BJJ & wrestling, maybe even for judo. I have the medium/large size. It's snug, but will break in after use. My quads are 21-22 inch diameter, so larger thighs should look elsewhere. I've only had 1 of them "fail" where the internal padding was torn in half, but the padding never shifted. It just folded in half easily. It still functioned and stayed intact well enough for Kung Fu/Wushu/Stunts.
