That means they can be heated from 32 F (0 C) to 450 F (232 C) without shattering." I am an engineer with metallurgy background, so let me explain a bit more. The answer is very much related to "temperature shock" - the difference between cold to hot. Technically, borosilicate glass (Pyrex) can withstand temperatures up to over 900 F. However, this is with very slow heat up and cool down, and with very even heating. It is generally accepted in industry for freezer to oven up to 470 F, but you still have to be careful and mindful about temperature shock - going from extreme cold to extreme heat. My recommendation: Going from a freezer, I'd limit it to a 370 F oven. Going from the fridge, I'd follow OXXO's advice and limit it to 450 F. NEVER put this glass under a broiler! The uneven top heating of a broiler could cause the glass to shatter (sometimes explode into very small shards of glass, as some reviewers have pointed out. One more word of advice - NEVER USE CHIPPED GLASS FOR COOKING. A small crack or chip will be a source for a crack to start and cause the cookware to shatter. Hope this helps. - CB **Q: Is this product really made from borosilicate glass? I feel like it is not really made of borosilicate glass, especially if it's made in China.** A: Interesting answers. On their website they state that it is made from borosilicate glass & can go from freezer to oven. They either have a problem with their glass or their manufacturer is not making this product to OXO specs. I don't think I'm going to buy it now. I really miss the good old-fashioned reliable Pyrex glass. Why can't things be made right anymore? **Q: can the lid go in the oven** A: No the lid is some sort of plastic. I bought this set because the lid is raised up higher than the top of the container, allowing me to be able to have frostings and toppings above the top of the cake without messing it up with the lid. **Q: Is this baking dish made in China?** A: Please. Please stop making your products in China. I would have purchased this, but not doing so if it is made in China. We purchased two 9x13 dishes and they're definitely large enough for a hefty meal for 4+ people. Super easy to clean and store or refrigerate with the lid on. I love these dishes! Update- we have shattered one of the dishes. I am keeping the 5 star rating because our clumsy butts dropped it on cement on 3 different occasions while grilling before it shattered.
