Can I set this pump on top of the drains to catch the water as it's coming up?** A: This is a designed to be submersed in water. If the water is not coming out of the drain fast enough it could burn out the motor. I wouldn't use it in that capacity. **Q: Can I use a pool vacuum hose with this? Is a garden hose the only thing to attach for outflow?** A: The Simer pump does have a hose fitting on the end that can be removed and a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 (not sure of size) threaded hole results that you could put a threaded nipple in to adapt to what ever fitting is on the end of the hose you want to use. **Q: Does it have an automatic turn on/off float switch?** A: It does not have an auto on off switch which is why I returned it. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well *by N***K on Reviewed in the United States on 18 April 2024* I have had experience with Simer pumps before and are satisfied with this one; I wish it had an automatic on/off, however. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ works amazing! *by A***R on Reviewed in Canada on 4 July 2020* We bought this after we had a flood in our basement and the company who did the clean up used this same one to drain the water out. Just attach a garden hose it, we ran the hose out the basement door or window and turn it on, it works fantastic and got rid of all the water. We found it on amazon and bought our own to have in case we ever had another flood. So far, we haven't had to use it, but it was a great price, it's easy to use and we are now prepared if we ever need it. It's definitely cheaper to have it on hand rather than to have to call someone to come in and do it for us, we can do it ourselves.
