If you need to find an ignition switched fuse, put the key in the vehicle, find the fuse which is not lit up while the car is off, and test it by turning the car on to see if it lights up. If your kit requires constant power, turn off the car and remove the key to see which fuse slots stays lit on. Connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire Once you've determined which fuse slots you need to use for your hardwiring kit you can crimp the red wire of your hardwire kit onto the Add-A-Fuse. Gently remove the fuse you identified. Install the fuse you just removed into the installation kit add-a-fuse circuit. Plug the add-a-circuit into the fuse box in the correct orientation. And the Yellow should be connect to the ACC. Ground the Hardwiring Kit Slip the black wire (which is in the shape of a C) under a metal bolt or screw in your vehicle (this is the ground wire). Check that it is not attached onto plastic parts. You will typically need a socket wrench to loosen the nut or bolt that you choose to ground with. To attach the grounding terminal, loosen the nut or bolt enough to slip it in and tighten it back up afterwards. Thoughts?** A: In my experience - there's no problem with car battery, as long as the engine is started for a few minutes once a day. Otherwise - bad news. Cutoff at 11.6V is unacceptable - battery's dead by then. So after having 2 Vantrue N4's in my two cars, and two hardwire kits - I have to replace one of the kits with generic kit that has 4 voltage cutoff settings, b/c only one out of two cars is driven regularly. Really wish Vantrue would ramp up their game on their kit... Even though generic kit I got is doing its job, and is cutting dashcam off at 12.2V as set, it confuses the camera, and now and then camera can't use SD-card anymore and demands re-formatting... **Q: Can anyone tell me the wire length. (Both sides of the control box)? Thx...** A: Not measured accurately, it should be at lease 1.5m. **Q: The description promotes theft protection w/ the 24 hour park feature. How is that possible when all footage is local stored? s** A: You are absolutely correct! That protection is only valid if the thief/cop doesn’t take the unit! I have asked Vantrue if they had plans to develop a model with Wi-fi that could transmit to your phone. I was told they were working on it. Thinking of it now though, it also would need to have cloud storage as well. With that said, the unit still records all incidents where the unit remains intact in the vehicle 24/7. I have looked at the very few offerings out there that do have wi-fi capability, but other that that one feature, they ALL appear to fall short of this unit in ALL other categories in my opinion, which is why I went with this unit. I’m VERY pleased with it! **Q: What fuse to put on tacoma** A: It comes with a fuse for the camera so install it in a fuse position that is low priority. Something like a aux, cigarette lighter etc. If you drive your car a lot every day then you can use it in a spot that always has power so you can monitor when parked.
