This thing is sweet, I'm still tweaking it here and there but it is the best of it's class. I had the TC Helicon Play Acoustic, and was not fond of the all the menus and having to scroll through multiple screens to make small changes, I actually sold it after about 2 months. I was hesitant to buy the Boss after not enjoying its competition, but this thing is very easy to use right out of the box. Nice knobs for tweaking sound and shape. It's nice to be able to just reach down and make simple changes on the fly.The looper is smooth and seamless. I love how you can loop guitar, vocals or both.. I've already gigged with this a handful of times and it's passed the test. I have gone into a PA mixer with it which sounded awesome, and I also paired down and went direct into my powered speaker for a smaller gig,, and surprisingly sounded awesome. (The mixer gives you a little more flexibility for tone, but going straight into the speaker was very clear and sounded great,, and allowed me to carry less gear and set up a bit faster. All in all, I am very pleased. I will likely buy the extension pedal to make looing even easier.. but I am kind of used to the double tap to stop (that's how most of my loopers have been) The fx are great. Guitar is crisp and deep, and vocals cut through but are still smooth. I don't really use the harmonies or pitch correction, but the guitar effects (delay, chorus, flange) are top notch. Plug, Play and sound great. If there is any negatives, it would only be that the power supply is a little cheap feeling, I like a little heavier duty since I'm plugging and unplugging, packing up several times a week. I have been using the unit live at gigs for over a year now. I cannot afford the time between songs to navigate the pedal on the ground with the different vocal and guitar effects I use (harmonies, vocal reverb, some guitar effects, etc). So I have the pedal sitting on a stand in front of me waist high (I stand). This allows me to make simple adjustments between songs by hand. I also have the Boss FS-7 foot switch set up ($60.00 on Amazon). This sits on the ground, and I am able to turn harmonies on and off during a song while continuing to play. Would also work switching on or off a guitar effect, the looper, etc. This system works very well live, and I waste very little time between songs with adjustments. i absolutely love this unit by the way. **Q: can i have a 220 volt power adapter?** A: The VE-8 comes with an AC power supply, but that is only for the secondary to the back of the unit. You would need to get an AC converter or step-up transformer, from 120VAC to 220VAC, on the primary, for operation outside the U.S. **Q: How much time on the loops?** A: According to the manual, 80 secs. I haven't used the looper for more than 20 secs yet. **Q: When using "enhance" (pitch correction) feature, is a manually entered key used by ve-8? or is it always chromatic correction?** A: You can do either. Set the pitch correction to a specific key or just let it adjust automatically. I bought as a backup for an old TCH box and for occasional use for small gigs. I have to say that the menu and setup for this is CRYPTIC... The looper is single track and there's no MIDI so you can't sync it. It will use batteries but they drain quickly. Once you get it programmed you have to use it regularly or you'll forget how to use it. All said, it's still very versatile and good sound quality.
