One of the control buttons toggles measuring references once the measure function has been activated. Page 2 of the owner's manual locates this button. **Q: Does this X3 allow measurements to the nearest 1/8"?** A: I have the X4, which is the same laser. The X4 has the camera, where the X3 does not. On my X4, it will measure to 1/8", BUT you have to make sure you purchase the US version. Also note, that it will display oddly... it will say 2/8" instead of 1/4", or 4/8" instead of 1/2". It's annoying, but you get used to it. Hope this helps! **Q: Does this have a tripod port and timer?** A: yes to the tripod port. There is a timer function shown on the quick "cheat sheet' but I have no idea how to use it. A bit on the pricier side, but the other ones just don’t measure up to 1/ 32 of an inch.Comes in a little case that you can hook onto your belt.It was really easy to use and compatible with MagicPlan. I would take a measurement and it would adjust my floor plan automatically in MagicPlan.Leica also has a compatible app, but I ended up not using that as I was already using this other floor plan app.Very good quality, it’s built very well and durable. Very easy to read.
