No need to learn a ton of lore. In fact the more you play, the more you create the lore. There were a few kinks in playing our first game and there are a couple things I'm still not quite sure if we're doing right or not, but we have fun. While the directions do a pretty good job you'll probably need someone at least a little familiar with the process, so I'd recommend it if you have some experience with RPGs. Great game. One slight flaw (as another reviewer pointed out) is that the game supports one gamemaster and only 3 players.In the end, this is a great light game. Don't expect hours and hours of a dungeon crawl or tons of rules.
