At first I thought the vacuum gauge was not working, but when located directly on the vacuum pump, the vacuum gauge went down to 15 microns and kept the vacuum after I switched off the pump. Then I connected the vacuum gauge to the valve core remover installer valves and took it down to 100 microns. When I switched off the vacuum pump, the pressure instantly went up to 20400 microns. Had I removed the cores and released the refrigerant with these valves, I would have lost the refrigerant.
