Review: Great connectivity, speed, and versatility, but does NOT work with ZWave. - The Aeotec Smart Home Hub2 v4 is an excellent choice for Smartthings. It is much faster, more memory, and great functionality. It is backwards and forward compatible and designed, with the ONLY exception, it will NOT work with ZWave devices. Zigbee and Matter are the current technologies that are the main players today, and the devices I connected work right out of the box. Connectivity is great, easy to set up and easy to use.
Review: Great hub for all of our devices - great price - great compatibility - Purchased this to replace our Samsung SmartThings Hub V2. I wanted a better solution for devices that use Matter since the V2 doesn't really provide the correct solution for this. The Aeotec Hub 2 (v4) does not support Z-Wave but in our home that is ok since none of our devices use Z-Wave anymore. Installation was incredibly easy. You just plug it in and in your SmartThings app just choose replace hub and it does it all for you in just a matter of minutes! First time I tried to replace it, I was impatient and didn't let the hub do all of its updates or something and the next day it dropped over half of our devices. The solution was to either manually reset each device or to transfer back to the old hub - so we moved it all back to the old hub and waited several hours for the Aeotec to do all of its updates first before transferring. Second time with patience was a charm. The Aeotec Hub2 is considerably faster than the older hub!

**Q: What's spec difference between samsung smartthings hub v3 (gp-u999sjvlgda)?**
A: This hub can connect to internet via ethernet and/or wifi and extend the pre-existing wifi for signal other wireless devices to connect to. It's mainly helpful if your router isn't in a central location for your smart home devices AND your devices are just an extra hop too far away. The V3 Hub just has ethernet connection which is reliable and works if distance isn't an issue.

**Q: Does this have the new z wave gen 700 series chip in it?**
A: This uses the Series 500 chip.

**Q: Does this require subscription?**
A: This hub does not require a subscription to be used.

**Q: Can I arm the house with this device using a siren if somebody breaks in?**
A: If you are seeking to buy this hub for protection, this is not what it's designed for.  It is strictly for controlling Z-Wave and Zigbee appliances. For home/business protection I'd recommend buying Ring Alarm kit which will do everything you're looking for. Buying Aeotec Hub can accomplish the task as well, but you will have to design the system yourself and buy all devices separately thus spending a lot more money.

The Aeotec Smart Home Hub2 v4 is an excellent choice for Smartthings. It is much faster, more memory, and great functionality. It is backwards and forward compatible and designed, with the ONLY exception, it will NOT work with ZWave devices. Zigbee and Matter are the current technologies that are the main players today, and the devices I connected work right out of the box. Connectivity is great, easy to set up and easy to use.
