With spray can there will be some overspray. Will primer stick to enamel?** A: Surface rust--It depends on how deep the rust is. If really rusted I would use a wire sanding wheel attach to a drill and grind as must rust away as possible (wear goggles to protect eyes)and then sand... If just surface rust I would use fine grade sand paper to treat area. Clean area as best as you can and spray a few coat of red/black (your color choice of primer) primer on area and let dry. Yea, there will be some overspray but sometimes that can not be helped..... Primer stick to enamel. Yes. It depends on what type of paint is on item you want to spray. I would say yes that primer will stick to enamel. I don't know if companies still made enamel primer, some do and some don't. Read the label on the can. I would sand the area were you want to prime with a fine sandpaper to remove the shine from the enamel paint. Clean area and try a test area to see what happens.............Good luck. I have a shed with a tin roof and I'd like to preserve it since it's rusting.** A: Well, I dont want to get your hope up but you can but how long is stays there is another question If the tin is really rusted and in sad shape I suggest you replace it but slightly rusted you may sand it lightly and apply 1 light coats of primer and let it dry completely and then give is a second coat...…..It may last a while but wont last for ever...……..The panel may be rusting from within itself and paint may cure the problem but it may still rust as time goes on.,..... JMJ **Q: Can I use this on wrought iron outdoor table and chairs?** A: I have used it as a primer for wrought iron, followed by a color coat.
