I am an herbalist and I have worked with nettle for many years. I also teach workshops, so I buy nettle for my classes and it is one of my go to herbs. I always say nettle is a gateway herb into herbalism. It is gentle, nourishing, and deeply supportive. I love this plant for so many reasons.I really like this brand. The taste is fresh and clean. I have tried powdered nettle from many different companies and this one stands out. I mainly use powdered herbs to make electuaries. I do not use this for capsules. The quality is great and you can taste it.Nettle has so many benefits. Here are just a few:• High in silica which supports healthy hair, nails, skin, and tissue strength• High in iron• High in protein• Rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, and others• A true galactagogue herb that helps increase and improve breast milk production• Wonderful for new mamas because it supports energy, nourishment, and mineral balance• Can support healthy skin• Helps strengthen the body and replenish depleted systems• Gently supports the kidneys and urinary system• Nourishing to the entire body and grounding for the nervous systemThis is just a tiny bit of what nettle can offer. It is such a powerful and gentle plant.There have been times when I have had a bad haircut or accidentally cut my hair too short. When that happens, I go right back to my strong nettle infusions. I use cut and sifted nettle leaf for that. I take one ounce of dried nettle and put it into a mason jar, pour boiling water over it, and let it steep anywhere from four to eight hours. Then I strain it, press out all the liquid, compost the spent herb, and drink it. My hair grows fast, my skin glows, and my nails get stronger. Nettle works.The price for this powdered nettle is great and the taste is yummy.If you want to try something fun, you can make a nettle electuary. Use maple syrup if you are vegan, or food grade vegetable glycerin if you want something low glycemic. Honey also works beautifully. Mix the powdered nettle with just enough sweetener to make a thick, mud like paste. Start with a little sweetener and add more herb as needed. Put it in a small jar like a two ounce jar or a small four ounce mason jar.Nettle on its own has an earthy, mineral rich, almost salty taste. When you mix it with honey or glycerin, it tastes like matcha. It becomes spoonfuls of ready to eat plant medicine. You can take it straight from the jar. If you stir it into hot water, it will taste like regular nettle again, not matcha, but eaten as a paste it is delicious.Making electuaries is a fun herbal project. It is something you can do with kids or if you are just exploring herbalism.
