This ingeniously designed weed removal tool was invented in 1913 in Seattle, Washington and people living in the Great Northwest quickly made it the MUST-HAVE weed puller for getting rid of weeds quickly and easily. Production of the stand-up weeder stopped in 1941 so that all available metal could be put towards the war effort and unfortunately, once the war ended, manufacturing of this wonderful weed removal tool never resumed. Can anyone take a guess?** A: No it will not. I have been trying to do just that for the last two hours and it takes me 5-8 pulls just to get it all. The prongs are too short to get the root and not spaced enough to get the whole clump. It is not user error. I drove it down centered on the root with my foot and even tried applying more force while leaning the tool. Just breaks the roots every time. **Q: Can you pull weeds from clay or tropical soil?** A: If the soil is heavy clay, this product will work poorly, if at all. In my many attempts to get it to work in clay soil (wet, dry, cold...), it failed *every* time -- pulling up as many clods of soil (which then need to be manually removed from the tool) as anything else. And, 9/10 times, the tap/central root would break off. I ended up giving the tool away at a yard sail. Waste of time and money for clay soils. **Q: What is the difference between this lower priced version and the version selling for $78?** A: To our knowledge, there is no difference. They are selling their product under the same UPC and Amazon Model number as ours.
