Using (red) rust to color concrete or to use it as stain on raw wood is one of the smartest things you can do. I've used it for years and the fact of the matter is it's... rust. It's not paint. It's not going to (ever) flake off or fade. So you never have to reapply it. And it's a wonderful neutral natural color. I buy it in bulk and then mix it with Ferrous Sulfate, (which is a great wood grayer and wood protector) that's safe to be used in planters, even with vegetables, right up against it. Or I mix it with Boiled Linseed oil and you have a wonderful stain with a natural waterproof capability. IF there is, you will very likely get lot's of experience with thermite and it's hotter sibling thermate. I know I and many other Marines did in Fallujah, Iraq during '04-'05 - The most fun city to be in during that time as a Marine. We used thermate often to render useless the countless weapons we obtained off of the enemy. Even if you don't get any combat experience, you'll get some practice with it but that's not as fun. To turn hydrangeas blue you will need a soil acidifier (some people use iron sulfate, sulfur, aluminum sulfate, or others).
