Review: Works with a 2007 Mazda 5 2.3L model to clear a P2177 trouble code I was getting for a long trip and as I was driving do a check engine light. Drove back home and plugged in the scan tool Read a P2177 code. Online listed a bunch of potential problems and the first thing listed was Mass air sensor. The car has 165,000K when the light came on but prior to that was running poorly and shook a little at idle. I happen to have this part on hand and figured it was a easy fix to try. I did not erase the trouble code but just swapped the Mass air flow sensor that took around 5 min. Drove for 2 days various times of the day and on the third day the light went off. So in reply to the person who didn't know what he was talking about that this does not work in a Mazda 5 is WRONG. It does work and I have confirmed it. So if you get a P2177 system Too Lean Off Idle Bank 1 - OBD Codes give this sensor a try. Thanks and take care.

**Q: Does it come with the 6-32 screws that mount the sensor?**
A: The screws that held in mine on a 3.4 V6 4Runner were M4x10s. They mate with threaded brass inserts on the air intake box. BTW, the last "mechanic" who serviced my vehicle buggered the hell out of the Phillips heads and I had to use an extractor to remove them.

A: I disconnected my battery and the check engine light came back on a few days later.....how long did it take for yours to go off after you installed the new sensor?

**Q: Where are these made? If china, not interested.**
A: Not sure where it manufactured, but“Nippon Denso” is Japanese and this is the full name of the brand of mass airflow sensor. However, I’m not certain that they too, out-source their manufacturing like the U. S. does. But, I know that Nippon Denso is the OE brand for for all of Toyota’s Fleet of automobiles. Toyota cars are very dependable and the parts are dependable also..

**Q: Is this the same as Denso 22204-07010?  That is the PN on my original part from 2002 Camry 4-cyl.**
A: I used 197-6020 for my 1999 Lexus RX300 6-cyl, so that much I know and may be you can do cross reference from this information.  I don't know if the part I used is compatible with your Camry.

Had rough idle on my car and after cleaning my original MAF saw a huge difference in idle and no more hesitation while accelerating on my Mazda 5. It came back again so instead of just cleaning it out again I bought a new one. The reason this part fails is due to excess carbon on the air intake. You need to clean out your throttle body too, otherwise you risk premature failure on the new MAF. I cleaned out the throttle body, replaced the MAF, then reset the ECU, relearned the idle and the car has been running strong almost like new again. This is great as I thought I had a transmission issue. It's just two screws and a wire, so very easy to do if you just want to replace the MAF. I ended up losing one of my screws, so be careful when you remove it, as it's just housed in plastic. I'll probably end up cleaning the throttle body more often on this car in hopes I don't have to buy another MAF.
