Product Description The IDEAL 61-532A is a 120V AC circuit breaker finder that automatically identifies a circuit breaker or fuse protecting a live branch circuit. It consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter identifies the presence of power via a red LED and sends a signal over the conductors when connected to an energized circuit. The receiver reads the transmitter's signal and identifies the breaker/fuse energizing the circuit by illuminating a red LED and emitting continuous beep once it determines the breaker/fuse with the strongest signal. From the Manufacturer In 1916, J. Walter Becker started the Ideal commutator dresser company of Chicago from his mother's kitchen. He manufactured commutator dresser stones with the belief that every product should be worth more than the price paid for it. Service, he said, was part of the product. **Q: Does it work with power on or OFF ?**
A: I believe it's works with on. But I ll check it when I get home

**Q: What's the difference between this model and the black model both model numbers are the same...**
A: The 61-534 has a transmitter that will test a GFCI and indicate outlet polarity. The 61-532 transmitter only indicates whether the outlet is powered. Note that these units require a powered outlet to work. They do not work on denergized circuits.

This breaker finder is great for finding unmarked breakers in your breaker box. Just plug the remote signal sender into any receptacle and then use the probe to scan the breakers. When the tone is heard for the second time (second pass over the breakers) you have pinpointed the breaker which is controlling the receptacle into which the remote is inserted. Sounds complicated but it isn't. The remote sends a signal over the house wiring from the receptacle to the breaker box. The Breaker Finder receives the signal and identifies the breaker. Works great. Saved me a lot of time identifying unmarked breakers in my breaker box.
