Worth the cheap price, but readers' expectations for what the book has to offer should be kept really low.

NOTE: If half stars were assignable, I would assign this book a 2.5 rather than a 2 star rating. For someone who is an absolute newbie to the ticket reselling game, this very short e-book/also in print does provide some good advice in the form of tips and tricks to follow to avoid major pitfalls and stumbling blocks to learning the business. However, it falls short on more than a few levels, several of which I will list below.(1) The author promotes eBay as the #1 online market for ticket reselling, and yet fails to explain precisely why eBay is tops. Granted, Ebay reaches a lot of prospective ticket buyers and is probably one of the best places to sell high dollar tickets immediately after the initial ticket sales have ended. Where is the data, though, to back up the author's claim about eBay? Indeed, little actual data supports most of the shared tips and tricks in the book.(2) The book needs some yearly updating. In fact, there is no mention of what appears to be the emerging #1 ticket resale market: Ticketmaster's nearly year-old resale option that allows buyers of tickets to many events (shown as TM+ events) to immediately list their tickets for whatever price they choose to sell them at. Ticketmaster provides a really easy resale scheme that favors sellers over buyers, in that there are zero fees to sell your tickets on Ticketmaster, but which makes the buyers feel 100% safe in their purchases.(3) The author places a strong emphasis on doing research--something of value to pass along to prospective industry newcomers. Aside from the act of putting together a spreadsheet for tracking cost/sales and suggesting that the reader become familiar with several industry websites, the author doesn't do much more to help the reader figure out what his/her research plan should be. More detail is also needed in the section of the book where the author discusses the need for tracking ticket sales to help the newbie's research. For example, the author suggests getting the sales records for tickets to past events from eBay and via other web sites, but doesn't tell the reader how to do this. These gaps in helpful "how to's" are a major flaw in the book.Overall, the book was well worth the cost I paid for it and is something that I would recommend for others--but only after sharing the cautionary information I have written above. I am thankful to author for sharing what he did share in his book in spite of the book's shortcomings.

A good starting point but not a lot of anything new.

I'd really like to review this at 3.5 stars. Its a good, albeit, a short book. It contains some pretty good information, but its probably not anything you can't find online. Having said that, this book is cheap enough and its nice to have all the information consolidated into a single book. Now, I've put some of this to use. I actually broke a rule that the author mentioned (since I anticipated a quick sellout) and I'm going to eat some of that cost. That's my fault, not the books. That said, I think to be successful at this endeavor, there's going to be a learning process to go through. This book might be able to provide you enough basic info, but you'll still have to develop your own data (or maybe buy someone else's insight - I seem to recall the book advocating a certain site with that intent). Look, buying and selling tickets isn't rocket science. I read up on the subject prior to buying this book and there seemed to be more reiteration of concepts than introductions of new concepts. It wasn't all reiteration, just a lot. There is some software mentioned that I hadn't stumbled on in the reading I did prior to this book. All in all, I'd say the book is worth the price of admission. You don't NEED this book to start doing this, but it'll help get you started in the right direction. I think the biggest key to success as a ticket broker though would be data (sellout data, resale history, etc) so that you can somewhat accurately predict the resale value of a given ticket. Its essentially gambling, but if you have enough data, you should be able to do a much better job playing the odds!

Good content but half of the book is about building a website

*by D***A on Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2016*

The beginning does go into detail about how to sell tickets but the latter half of the book is how to create a website in Wordpress.... If I needed to learn that I would buy a book that's called 'how to create a website'. I wish it went more in depth about the type of research to do to determine good tickets and pricing them right.
