My whole house is carpeted and I don't want to weigh myself in the driveway.** A: All you have to do is cut a piece of plywood the size of the scale and place the scale on it. If you want a classier look, just but a few ceramic tiles at a home center and lay them on the carpet where you want the scale. Put the scale on the tiles, and problem solved. Otherwise, just put the scale in your shower or tub and weigh yourself there. Scales won't be accurate unless they are on a hard surface. **Q: what type of batteries does this use?** A: Mine came with 2 cheap AAA Heavy Duty (aka, leaky style) batteries. I immediately replaced them with 2 Alkalines. I love this scale so far.
