Wilson's fascinating and fantastical constructions echo with historical resonance. His huge project for many years has been to scour the garbage dumps of rejected knowledge, where he has discovered many liberatory, if one can say, countercultural voices. The Utopian Socialism of Charles Fourier, "erroneous" but fascinating interpretations of Egyptian hieroglyphics from the Renaissance, the whole rich history of hermeticism, the history of insurrections and utopian experiments, heresy in Islam, Paracelsan nature spirits; a mere smattering of the crazy beads from Wilson's omnivorous reading woven with devilish wit into these poem-tapestries.These poems are written as weapons to be used against whatever deadens our imaginations and sucks us into living prefabricated lives. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. The Wizard will see you now.

I've read most everything of Bey (or Wilson) and this is my favorite.His wit and eloquence have never been sharper or more playful. A book of poetry I'll always treasure.
