Review: A Good Chance To Last - What can I say about 'Saphir d'Or Sole Guard' that hasn't been said before? The French are serious about top-notch quality that they offer in all products that they create for our fine shoes, and this oil is not an exception. As soon as I get a brand new pair of shoes, I wear them for a few days. I then brush the outsole with a stiff plastic brush. Once I remove stuff that attaches to the leather, I apply a coat of 'Saphir d'Or Sole Guard.' An hour or two later, I apply a second coat. I allow equal amount of time and I apply a third coat. I repeat the process three times because I can see how quickly the dry leather absorbs the oil. I do not wear those shoes for several days to allow the oil to spread to internal fibers of the leather other than the surface. With this treatment repeated periodically ~and other treatments for the upper leather~ a fine pair of shoes stands a good chance to last a long time.

**Q: Curious...if the product is made in france, why are the directions in a different language than french and/or english?  just where is this stuff made?**
A: Um.  The bottles of this that I have are wearing back labels in French, with instructions in French and indicate “made in France” by Avel, like all Saphir products.  Maybe the bottle you’re looking at was made for export to Asia?  Quite possible.  By the way, it works well.  It’s top level stuff, like all Saphir products.

**Q: Was going to get rubber sole protectors for gucci loafers but someone suggested this. Does this really protect the soles of leather shoes that well?**
A: Definitely get the rubber sole protectors

**Q: Is this safe for all soles regardless of color?**
A: I believe it is. I have never had it alter the color of any sole I put it on. I only put it on bottom of sole, not the sides, but would expect the same outcome.

**Q: If it's made of vegetable oil, does it expire?**
A: Um ... Not that I've seen. Seems to be valid and useable as long or longer than the Saphir creme and paste.  All good!!

It is a bit pricey, but wanted to make my boots looking good. It is just one of several products I purchased to make my boots look almost new. I applied it several times, the worn leather soles drank it up. I applied it three times and let each application dry before the next coat.
