I would try to roll the edges the opposite way first to stretch the threads a little, then attach the tape and press onto the floor where you want it. and maybe even weigh it down with something heavy like books, etc, for a few days. **Q: Could you tell me the exact width? I've purchased another carpet tape in Amazon, but it was not 2". It was 47mm.** A: My roll measures 50 mm/5cm/1 and 15/16ths inches wide **Q: Will this tape pull off paint or stain?** A: I guess it’s possible depending on the paint and if it’s adhered well to the painted surface or not. This stuff is sticky I’m not gonna lie. I just pulled it up off my laminate wood flooring and had to kinda push one corner of the tape to get it to roll up a little to be able to pull it off.
