This compact waterproof detector comes with easy-to-use controls and is assembly-free. Review: I only have about 15 hours runtime on this unit so far but ill share what i know. Number one for me is the compact design. I go deep in the hills and it folds down to fit neatly in my backpack. Hits pretty deep relative to VLF but this is my first PI detector. Very user friendly. The preset controls are good to go but i am still learning the difference in sound for ferrous and non ferrous, deep and shallow. Battery life doesn't seem to affect signal strength. Solid construction, carbon fiber and durable whatever kind of plastic is used. The shaft length is long enough for a tall guy. I'm 6'6'' and it extends out far enough for me. Cons might be it is a little toe heavy. A small thing too is the battery compartment latch is a little awkward. It is ideal for prospecting creek beds where high mineral content is too hot for other detectors. The SDC 2300 is very sensitive to small gold scattered in heavily mineralised ground. This gold is often missed by prospectors with both VLF and PI detectors because of the difficult ground conditions and fine gold size. You can now detect the small gold missed in previously searched areas. These small gold finds can lead the way to new patches and bigger gold deposits. It features Automatic Ground Tracking (AGT) & Fast Ground Balance to eliminate the effects of heavily mineralised ground. The SDC 2300 is an all-metal PI detector and does not have any target discrimination capability to differentiate between different types of metal. **Q: How deep can it detect items under the ground?** A: Nobody can answer that question accurately as varying conditions including target size and ground type will dictate the depth that a target can be found. I will say that this is by far my favorite metal detector that I use as it's compact and water proof up to 10 feet. I know people who claim to have found gold over 20 inches with this detector. The SDC 2300 is very sensitive to small gold scattered in heavily mineralized ground. This gold is often missed by prospectors with both VLF and PI detectors because of the difficult ground conditions and fine gold size. Field tests have proven that the SDC 2300 will find much smaller gold than the GPX 5000, and all VLF detectors, in heavily mineralized ground conditions.
