It also supports oil paints by removing the sponge and paper, making it a versatile tool for artists. Measuring 8.5 x 7 inches and made in the USA, it’s perfect for studio use or travel, ensuring paint longevity and reducing waste. ## Description No more wasted paint! The Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette keeps acrylics and other water-based paints wet on the open palette for hours. Once the lid is closed, the paints will stay wet and in workable condition for days, even weeks. The airtight acrylic palette features a patented sponge insert and special permeable palette paper. Together, they provide acrylics and other water-miscible paints with a constant source of moisture. Moisten the sponge and lay it inside the paint palette tray, then place the palette paper on top. When the lid is open, the paints will have an extended open time. When the lid is snapped shut, the Masterson Sta-Wet palette will maintain a moist atmosphere that preserves paints. In addition to its uses with water-based paints, the Sta-Wet palette can be used as an oil paint palette. For use with oils, simply remove palette and sponge and use the covered paint palette to store oil paints (oil palette paper not included). The lid has five prongs that provide structural stability and prevent any paints stored inside from contact with the lid. The Handy Palette is the ideal size for projects in the studio or classroom, and the small size also makes it great for travel. ## Features - The Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette is an easy-to-use system for keeping water-based paint fresh for days or even weeks. FOR EXAMPLE: dish soap reduced surface tension of water and will change how the paint flows; vinegar is an acid and could change the pH of the acrylic - destroying its pigment binding chemistry and potentially causing the paint to reactivate when it gets wet; alcohols (including Listerine with alcohol) significantly speeds up the paint drying time (exactly what you don't want in a wet palette); and hydrogen peroxide will cause pigment clumping - causing interesting but uncontrollable effects on saturation and contrast. Three one-cent pennies under the sponge will effectively inhibit mold, mildew, bacteria because copper ions are anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. The thin copper plating on the newer zinc (post 1982) pennies are enough to prevent microbial growth. Do use distilled water. **Q: Does it come with one sponge?** A: Yes. It comes with the spongy layer and some paper. The paper is actually washable, so I just rinse it off and reuse it. I've even scrubbed it lightly with a sponge. It's a different kind of paper. Some stains remain but they don't hurt anything. I use one side then turn it over and use the other side. I've used one sheet of paper for awhile now. **Q: I didn't get directions can anyone fill me in?** A: I do as Jerry Harber does up to a point...I wet the sponge and the paper and put my paints directly on the paper. Then I mist the paints when I finish and close the palette. I also use regular palette paper when I run out of the special paper that came with the palette. I have also used copy paper. Hope this helps you... **Q: my acrylics stay wet but get runny, almost completely useless after a couple of days, any solutions?** A: Hi, You are using too much water. Wring the sponge well, flap or pat dry the paper after wetting. If paint continues to get too thin, leave lid off to allow evaporation. Add a touch of household ammonia to the water before soaking sponge and paper. This keeps everything fresh and helps reduce skimming while open. When dry enough, mist lightly to maintain proper moisture and prevent skim. ## Frequently Bought Together - Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette, 8.5in x 7in Airtight Stay Wet Palette, Keeps Wet Paint Fresh for Days, Acrylic Painting Palette with Lid, Seal, Perfect for Miniature Painting, Made in USA - Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette Acrylic Paper Refill 30 Sheets - Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette Sponge Refill 3 Pack --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/255156222-sta-wet-handy-palette-airtight-paint-palette-keeps-paint-fresh](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/255156222-sta-wet-handy-palette-airtight-paint-palette-keeps-paint-fresh) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
