(For use with the Gelli plate.)** A: deli paper, copy paper, rolls of exam table paper, mixed media paper and watercolor paper. Because there is a lot of clean up involved, I tend to get all my paints, inks and stencils out and spend three to five hours making a bunch prints. My favorite are the deli (try using both sides to see which you like better) but then I will take the brayer and roll off excess onto the exam and/or copy paper and get cool backgrounds from there. Don't spend a lot on mixed media paper, I buy the student or cheapest and found that the thinner the paper the better the print. Watercolor is my least favorite -- doesn't make as good as imprint. I share with someone a box of 1,000 sheets from our grocery outlet store which is about $15 a box. The other papers I wait until Aaron Bros either has a great sale or use a coupon to pick up their student version of mixed media and water color paper. The exam paper I buy through Amazon and only bought one roll so far. Buy big books from Good Will or thrift shop for $1 -- makes really cool backgrounds. My favorite weight is a medium weight paper but do experiment to see which you like before you buy anything in bulk. **Q: Just have to ask -- how does one get an 8x10 square as stated in the description???** A: I'm not sure you are being just critical pointing out a slight error in description or you are seriously looking for a SQUARE that measures 8"x10"? I suspect the latter. However for anyone who really wants a square just mask any of the rectangles to fit the square size you want or need. Or perhaps buy a size big enough to carefully cut to the size you need. careful is the word here. It's a gel like slightly squishy material and attempting to cut can result in uneven cuts so it takes some finasse so to speak to manage a quality straight line edge trim. Ok best method is to just mask off to a square. I suspect what the sellers were thinking via interpretation of one language to the next is it has square right angle corners. No reason to be that picky really people. I like to believe I'm intellectual enough to grasp the situation. And sounds like all the others who answered are too. But for those who might be looking for a square buy the rectangle that will give you that plus more and mask off. You can accomplish that by just making a design you know will fit within a square of your project and by using only a square piece of printable paper you achieve the square because of course your paper is cut to size and square. As to masking there are several options. Use a stencil with the square opening. Use placements of masking materials on edge or edges of design so you get a perfect square print on your printing paper. There is a few other options but hey let your own imagination and creativity think of those. Just the most simple ones here folks to get you started. Stay safe but HAVE FUN and think Outside the box and embrace all our differences...this is a fun ceative making material...especially for fabric artists. Love you can buy Large size gels to make large size pillow projects. I found this when trying to figure out how to print on fabric for a Mountain Goat design large enough to fit my intended project. I do have a 19" printer but wasn't getting good results and the fabric I wanted to print on wasn't capable of being prepared to go through a printer. THIS technique allows one to use even heavy canvas or white denims plus textured fabrics even. Oh yes this can open up a lot of creative avenues not just for paper crafts but for other media as well. Sanded wood blocks come to mind too. **Q: What is different About student plate from others?** A: I've worked with the student plates for three summer school sessions: several classes with middle school students. The size is perfect for positioning on regular copy paper, allowing for plenty of experimentation at a reasonable cost. The plates have held up remarkably well, and we've printed using both sides when one side became "pitted" or otherwise imprinted. Personally, I like the smaller size, too. Clean-up is easier, and prints dry quickly.
