Secondly, this product is designed to be used with other Liquitex acrylic paints - if you're mixing it with another type of paint, an unfavorable chemical reaction may be affecting your desired result. The same holds true if you are applying it over a painted surface which has dried. Third, you could consider adding a stiffening agent, such as quick setting acrylic adhesive, to your mixture. This will force the gel to "set up" quickly and stiffen.
