My dogs love them both, the krill has added joint support, so for the same price, I go with Krill. I have compared ingredients and this brand, by far has what is required as other's do NOT. So I stick with this brand no matter what type. It simply depends on what you are looking for and I am always looking for relaiable omega ingredients and if it has joint support I am also happy. **Q: what is the difference between the krill oil and the salmon oil, other than the obvious (source), is one better than another?** A: I'm no expert, but this is what I have read. Krill oil provides a better variety of nutrients. First and foremost, krill oil contains essential fatty acids DHA and EPA, which your dog's body cannot produce on its own. Sure, fish oil provides EPA and DHA too, but Krill oil contains higher levels of EPA than fish oil. Krill also come from small crustaceans instead of fatty fish, so it's healthier. There's a lot of good info on the Internet to compare the two. The first time I thought it was just something she was hearing but when it became the 4th and then 6th night of this from 8pm to almost 2am I knew it was a bigger issue so I booked a vet appointment and started researching. Mainly kept reading it could be CDS, aging in pets (dementia, extra anxiety, etc), or more severe underlying issue. Hence, the vet appointment. I stumbled on an article about a woman talking about the same systems and talking about brain memory and her dog being older and she tried these treats. Let me just say… these treats have been a LIFESAVER! My dog is almost 12 and after reading about dog brain functionality and calming remedies I decided to try these cognitive treats. Not only does my dog love them but after 1 week of her taking them daily I noticed a huge change in her anxiety and we both finally get to sleep like normal. He’s stopped eating and stares off into space. He’s losing function of his back legs and it’s just heartbreaking to watch. He’s only 9 and this is progressing a warp speed since last month.While hem’s not in pain according to the vet, his eyes are empty and lifeless. I know we’re losing him but I’m not willing to give up yet! If you’re reading this, you’re probably not either.I’m writing this review even though it’s only been two days. If your dog is not eating and will not consume one of these chews, you can mash it up with a little water or better yet coconut oil to liquify. Then put it in his mouth with a little dropper. My little guy Kilo gobbles it up with no problem along with a liquid calorie and vitamin supplement. I’m using the coconut oil for calories and because it has fatty acids. I’m not sure if we see any improvement quite yet but I wanted to suggest the liquifying technique to anyone who might skip these because their dog isn’t chewing solid food.I’ll come back with an update in 2 weeks. God speed to all of you dealing with the impossibly heart wrenching, slow and painful loss of a beloved pet with dementia and degenerative nerve issues. I’m just speechless and incredibly grateful to this company for giving us more time together and for Kilo, a better quality of life!Update Feb. 9th:We did end up losing Kilo at the end of January. Ultimately, he just stopped eating and drinking altogether. Even mixing the supplement with coconut oil which he loved was a no go. It was just a week from when stopped eating and to his leaving this earth. He died at home in my arms, he was not suffering but his little brain just had run out of steam.I wanted to thank Zesty Paws and the Alpha Brain company for creating this powerful product.
