I've never used a pump dispenser with peanut butter. **Q: Is the container bpa free?** A: Yes Both the lid and container are #2 HDPE products made in the USA by Ropak **Q: Once the the container is open, does it need to be refrigerated?** A: No, once the container is opened and you smell the fullness of the peanut butter, there won't be any left. **Q: What’s the shelf life of this Peanut Butter** A: I suspect your asking how long you can keep it unopened without it spoiling. I got mine sometime early March and it looks like it has a sell by date of ??/23/21. This is partially rubbed so I can't see the month but the day and year are clear so figure at least a year and at most possibly two. This also assumes that the sell by date is close to the use by date which is a big assumption. If your asking how long it lasts once opened... I have had this open and using it for about 3 months now but it has been refrigerated. There has not been any indication of spoilage or degradation. I keep it refrigerated because it's a little runny and keeping it cold makes it more spreadable. This is very normal for a non-processesed peanut butter. This product is just fresh ground peanut and nothing else. It's slightly sweet and very enjoyable despite being a little runny but if your packing a lunch for the kids you would need to find a way to make it less so. Filtering out or draining some of the oil should probably help. Otherwise I am very happy with this and will most certainly buy it again but it will take a while to finish. We have only used about a quarter of the 9 lb. Tub.
