An empty tank won't ascend from the bottom, but it will take an upside down position, its buoyancy is much less negative. Attached to you it "might" affect your buoyancy, but that depends on your own buoyancy. Very portable, and use it in pools to do maintenance and for fun. Looking to take it on vacation soon. I have two different size tanks. The half liter I can stretch to about 12 minutes of air time and with this one liter, I can get it to between 15-20 minutes. I had one issue with the respirator where a piece got stuck closed and I couldn’t breathe, but it’s easy to unscrew and fix. Maintenance is a breeze with additional gaskets/o-rings provided, but haven’t needed them yet.Stay away from the hand pump. It just takes too long, but you’ll get a good workout from it. The half liter took a couple hours to fill with a hand pump. Get a small air compressor to pair with this.This is not for the serious diver unless you’re carrying it for backup air! I am not yet certified in diving but can say this is good for a multitude of tasks. Spend the money and get an electric one.
