There are many medical trials that use 600 mg, so doubling the dose is easy. Alpha lipoic acid naturally is formed of two isomers, called R- and S-. All health benefits are attributed to the R- isomer. However, the S- isomer interferes with the R- isomer’s benefits. The beauty of this produce is that HMS has isolated the R- isomer, eliminating the S- isomer from its product so as to provide all of the R- isomer’s benefits. This form is often referred to as RALA (R α-lipoic acid) or R-LA. But this product has been taken a step further. It has been stabilized with a bit of sodium, which stabilizes the R-LA and allows for better absorption by the digestive system. This form is often referred to as Na-RALA.
