12v Roof Top Air Conditioner

This unit is exceptionally well made. It does not cool as well as the 110V unit it replaced, but does an adequate job & has dropped my power consumption enough that I can run it all night, stay comfortable and have plenty of power left to run the microwave & cook in the morning. We spent 4 nights in Lafayette, LA in mid July last summer & stayed reasonably comfortable without plugging into shore power until the last night. I have a 1040 AH lithium battery bank and 600 watts of solar panels. I am no longer tied to RV parks during the summer. It is pretty noisy. It appears to have a soft start, but would be improved with circuitry that would allow it to step down its power & run continuously to avoid the cycling. I don't know of any RV ACs that have this feature. I would recommend this unit to anyone who likes to boondocks & does not want to have to stay plugged in to stay cool. It is very expensive, but worth it in the right set of circumstances. It would be good for campers that don't have an inverter, but carry a large battery bank.
