Holds my battery solidly even out in the field. While it's marketed for holding USB power bank batteries, which is what I'm using it for, it can also hold slimmer phones. I tried with my LG G8 smartphone, which is in a slim case, and it held it just fine! May not work for really wide phones. One thing to note is that the hole on the bottom (opposite end of the screw) is not a threaded hole. It's hard to see in the photos, but it's not threaded.
