My husky is very reactive to any sound resembling a smoke detector, so the beeping of these mats, while not THAT loud, definitely stops her in her tracks. Our 6-month old kitten is also deterred from the couches now as well. The sound is loud enough to bug us while we're sleeping, but it isn't so loud that I worry our attached neighbors will be bothered by it during the day. This is the perfect solution for the opportunistic couch-surfing dog who only jumps up when you're not looking. Don't buy the more expensive brand of these just because other reviews complain about it being too thin- it's fine. Just place it where your dog will have to put pressure on it in order to be on the couch and it will do its job.
