Sourced from South America, it delivers rich, authentic chocolate flavor ideal for baking, cooking, smoothies, and even beauty products—perfect for health-conscious, plant-based lifestyles. ## Description Did you know chocolate originally comes from a fruit? Each fruit pod of the cocoa tree contains 40-50 seeds, also known as cocoa beans. These beans are finely ground into Cocoa Powder. Our Organic Cocoa Powder has a dark and rich color with a fat content of 10-12%, perfect for any baking or cooking application! This percentage refers to the amount of cocoa butter left in the powder. It’s organic, gluten free, and imported from South America - home of Cocoa! Cocoa Powder is delicious in baking, chocolate-making, no-bake recipes, and even in spice rubs for meat! Add a deep chocolate flavor to baked goods, smoothies, coffee, or oatmeal. Mix it into pancakes, waffles, cakes, cookies, and more. You can even make homemade, chocolate scented soaps and scrubs! Anthony’s Cocoa Powder is Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Unsweetened, and Non-Alkalized. ## Features - Anthony's Organic Cocoa Powder - Batch Tested and Verified Gluten Free - Unsweetened, Non-Alkalized - 10-12% Fat Content - Great for plant-based, raw, gluten free, paleo, vegan, and organic recipes! - Perfect for baking, cooking, adding to smoothies, oatmeal, and even DIY beauty products! ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Customer Reviews | 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars (9,601) | ## Images ![Anthony's Organic Cocoa Powder, 2 lb, Gluten Free, Non GMO, Unsweetened - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/815KR0oSEdL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Has this been tested for lead and cadmium? I saw a report of other cocoas containing heavy metals and wonder how this one compares.** A: Because there are not clear or cited answers below, here is one that at least provides more context on the issue and concenr (but not really an ANSWER). Citing ConsumerLab (a paid service that does testing on multiple consumer food products).. "It's true that we found most cocoa powders to have high concentrations of cadmium -- around 1 to 1.5 mcg per gram -- which is much higher than the World Health Organization limit of 0.3 mcg per gram. The dark chocolate bars we tested had concentrations which were about 1/10th the amount found in cocoa. The main reason why there is less cadmium per gram in dark chocolate than cocoa powder, is that cadmium is in the cocoa solids, which, when dried, is cocoa powder." That being said, I am also researching the levels in cocoa powder and other things like spices before I purchase now. Mainly because my young child has no choice in what he consumes. I have yet to find this information on Anthony's (which is our go to brand), so I'll probably choose another brand for now. Although Anthony's is great in all other aspects! I would love to have this information shared. PS - You may say its negligible, but in my opinion, if I were to ignore toxicity across all the products that I buy then I'd be agreeing to the risk that all these microtoxicities wouldn't stack over time. Not willing to take that chance. **Q: fair trade?** A: I just received mine. There is nothing on the package that indicates fair trade :( **Q: Why is there no USDA certified organic label?** A: Hi, Purchased locally last week. Now has a USDA Organic Label **Q: Has this been tested for lead and cadmium levels? And what is the difference between cocoa powder and cacao powder?** A: Cocoa is highly processed meaning too much heat destroys the nutrients. Cacao is cold pressed meaning the nutrients remains. When cacao is heated it becomes cocoa ## Frequently Bought Together - Anthony's Organic Cocoa Powder, 2 lb, Cacao Powder, Gluten Free, Non GMO, Non Alkalized, Unsweetened - Anthony's Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Powder, 1 lb, Ground, Gluten Free, Non Irradiated, Non GMO, Keto Friendly - Anthony's Collagen Peptide Powder, 1 lb, Pure Hydrolyzed, Gluten Free, Keto and Paleo Friendly, Grass Fed, Unflavored, Non GMO --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/230097032-anthonys-organic-cocoa-powder-2-lb-gluten-free-non-gmo](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/230097032-anthonys-organic-cocoa-powder-2-lb-gluten-free-non-gmo) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-11-02*
