The smell is light, and not that typical, gross, "self tanner" smell. It does NOT come off on my clothes, and gives me a natural tan color, that doesn't look streaky. A word of caution though - if you use it daily, you might notice a more fake color start to emerge. Touch-up once or twice a week for consistent color. Easy. This from a pale blonde who avoids the sun and uses 50+ SPF regularly.
