Durability? Parts availability?** A: It’s a Makita! I’ve trimmed our Photinia hedge (about 150’ long, 7’ high) twice a year for the past 3 years…….and it works like new! One of the best tools I have ever invested in! **Q: Will this work to cut cattails?** A: I believe it would. We have cut forsythias and burning bushes with this many times. It has been a great tool for us. **Q: Are the blades replaceable or may they be removed for sharpening?** A: I suspect you could purchase replacement blades from Makita. It would seem that it would take forever to sharpen by hand and almost impossible keep the proper cutting angle. ## Frequently Bought Together - Makita XNU01Z Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless, Tool Only 18V LXT 20" Articulating Pole Hedge Trimmer, Teal - 2 Pack 18V 5000mAh Lithium-ion Replacement Battery for Makita and 14.4V-18V Replacement Charger for Makita BL1830 BL1850 BL1840 - Makita XBU03Z 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Blower, Tool Only --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/220168748-makita-xnu01z-lithium-ion-brushless-cordless-tool-only-18v-lxt](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/220168748-makita-xnu01z-lithium-ion-brushless-cordless-tool-only-18v-lxt) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
